It’s been a while, and we’ve been silent. But for good reason.

We have made some headway with HDR video…but mostly Alaric has been busy bringing HDR video to the iPhone. While it’s not quite what two pro cameras and a beam splitter can produce, it’s nothing less than amazing for a mobile device.

It’s called Flare, and it’s available on the App Store today: getflare.com

Finishing up Post Production

Editing is finalized, the sound track has been laid down, and we’re nearing release of our short film. A few tweaks here and there…

Interesting that Apple released native support for HDR photos on the iPhone 4. Should be increased interest in the technology.

HDR Film in the pipeline

We’re proud to announce a new technique that utilizes High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging for motion. After a year of experiments and many mistakes, we feel that we’re ready to commit to taking this process all the way. Our technique uses tone-mapping to allow the higher range to be visible on a standard monitor or projector, and the effect is stunning. While we’ve all seen HDR photos, few if any have made any headway into the use of HDR for video. We think we have it down, and have plans to put our work to the test by filming an entire (short) video with it.
